Pacific Northwest GS Adventure Rally 2007 (Menlo)People asked us how we were going to top the ’06 GS rally, and frankly, we were stumped. It seemed an impossible task. However, we knocked one out of the park in ’07 by bringing Jimmy and Heather Lewis of Jimmy Lewis Racing, up from California to teach two one-day clinics, giving us a new centerpiece for this event. 40 fortunate GS riders had a chance to learn from the man who piloted a (heavily modified) BMW GS to a third-place finish in the Paris-Dakar-Cairo Rally in 2000. BestRest Products and Touratech-USA hosted tech seminars, and Mike Paull and Jimmy Lewis both gave evening presentations. A good long thread, with lots of pictures from the 2007 Rally can be found on the ADVrider site at the following link: http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=256939 To view the Photo Gallery from this event, please click here. |

Pacific Northwest GS Adventure Rally 2006 (Menlo)Originally slated to happen in Conconully, Washington, the first PNWGS Rally was displaced by forest fires two weeks before the event was due to start. Some very, very quick thinking by members of the Rally team resulted in relocation to the Pacific County Fairgrounds in Menlo, Washington. Jim Hyde pf RawHyde Adventures came up from California to teach two GS clinics, showing riders the basics of GS riding off-road. Jim was accompanied by Uli Hanus of Baboons, a German off road racing company that focuses on BMW GS bikes. The riders were treated to seminars by Touratech-USA, Coach Ramey Stroud, and an evening presentation by Helge Pedersen of GlobeRiders. Great food, great beer from Georgetown Brewing, great weather and great riding in the hills surrounding Menlo helped to make the first PNWGS Rally a smashing success. Comments, feedback, tales of joy and woe, and some great snapshots from the 2006 Rally can be found at the following link on ADVrider: http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=158955 To view the Photo Gallery from this event, please click here. |
